The cast is full of talented, well-known actors who have solid comedic timing. There are lots of fun callbacks to the original films, making it more of a remake than an addition to the series. However, many Home Sweet Home Alone reviews were not positive, finding it cliché and full of glaring plot-holes. Perhaps falling under the endearingly "so bad it's good" category of films, Home Alone 3's script delivers a premise is so outrageous that it's almost unreal the sequel was greenlit.

But for some in the audience, it’s always absurd when the typical action hero, whether John McClane or John Rambo, is substituted for a Jane. Even recent fare like Gunpowder Milkshake and The Princess market as comedies, with a winking acknowledgment that there’s just something off about this most literal girl power. It’s refreshing that there’s no explanation for why a teenage girl is able to take on adult neo-Nazis, and no insecurity, either. If dealing with his immediate family wasn’t enough frustration for Kevin, he also has to deal with all of the extended family staying at his house. Uncle Frank is a total jerk, and his cousin Fuller is kind of dumb. On a quest to find someone who can show him, he finds no sympathy from the family and Megan delivers this quotable putdown to confirm that she's already said tough luck to poor Kevin.
"Home Alone" is about an 8-year-old hero who does all of those things, but unfortunately he also single-handedly stymies two house burglars by booby-trapping the house. And they're the kinds of traps that any 8-year-old could devise, if he had a budget of tens of thousands of dollars and the assistance of a crew of movie special effects people. Angels with Filthy Souls is one of the most memorable gags from the franchise, so much so that it popped up in Home Sweet Home Alone’s references to the original. The cutting of Harry and Marv's ultimate comeuppance isn't the most egregious removal of a Christmas movie moment, with that title still belonging to the deletion of a pivotal song from The Muppet Christmas Carol. However, knowing what we could have had as the true ending to Home Alone does suck, as this would have been another great entry into the annals of post-credits sequence that truly deserved a spot at the table.
He also says that, initially, the attention he got because of the Uncle Frank role was tough to deal with. It’s unclear if this moment was ever filmed or merely stayed on the pages of both the John Hughes and Chris Columbus drafts of Home Alone. No matter the answer to that question, I agree with Joe Ramoni’s feelings that this is a moment that should have absolutely stayed in the movie. Culkin appeared in the first two Home Alone films but decided not to return for the franchise's third instalment. Arthur S.
